The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba (MINREX) approved Resolution 37/2026, which regulates the Consular Fee and establishes general rules for charging for services provided by Cuban consular offices abroad.

The regulation formally approves the Consular Tariff and the general rules for its application. These fees correspond to the amounts charged by Cuban consular offices for the various services they provide abroad.
According to the resolution, consular fees are set and collected in US dollars or euros, depending on the country where the consular office is located.
The provision also establishes payment exemptions in certain cases. These include services provided to officials of Cuban state missions and their accompanying family members.
The mission chiefs are responsible for ensuring the proper application of the Consular Tariff and the exemptions provided for in the regulation. Additionally, the resolution establishes mechanisms to authorize specific exemptions in particular cases.
The regulations prohibit heads of missions and consular officials from independently increasing or decreasing the established fees. Any proposal for modification must be processed for the corresponding approval.
With this resolution, the MINREX establishes the framework that Cuban representations abroad must follow for the implementation of charges associated with consular services.
Resolution 37/2026 is part of a wider update of consular fees that will take effect from October 1.
The regulation modifies the fees for numerous services provided by Cuban consulates and diplomatic offices abroad.
Among the most notable changes is the cost of the process for renouncing Cuban citizenship.
The same resolution sets a total fee of 1,000 dollars or euros to complete this procedure, divided between the application and the obtaining of the renunciation.
