"Right now on the road to Santa Lucía, Camagüey. The driver couldn't hold himself together due to drunkenness. Thank God there were no human casualties," reported a user in the mentioned group.

The vehicle, a maroon utility truck with license plate T031786, became stuck in the weeds at the edge of the road leading to the mentioned tourist area of Camagüey.

This incident adds to a series of traffic accidents in Cuba involving rental cars for tourism, which have been described by users as "killing machines" due to the lack of maintenance and spare parts, leading to frequent accidents on the island.

In December, a similar accident in Las Tunas involved a taxi and a passenger car, resulting in three fatalities and several injuries.

In March 2024, a tourist vehicle caught fire after losing control on the Bayamo-Holguín road. Recently, another accident involving a rental car resulted in one fatality and two injuries.

Local authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the incident, but investigations are expected to take place to clarify the events and determine responsibilities.

The recurrence of these incidents highlights the need to strengthen control measures and raise awareness about responsible driving, particularly for tourists and clients of vehicle rental agencies in Cuba.
