“Right now at the dam of 100 Arroyo Naranjo. Notify family members if they recognize the car and driver,” said a user of Facebook identified as Massiel Montejo Amiot in a post from the group ‘Somos Mantilla (Official Group)’.

At the time of writing this note, the circumstances under which the vehicle ended up in the waters of the reservoir are unknown. Neither authorities nor official media have provided details about this unusual incident.

The strange event is reminiscent of what was reported on the morning of this Wednesday, when an electric bike was found submerged in the Guaso River in the city of Guantánamo, sparking all sorts of rumors about its origin.

In 2020, a similar incident occurred at the Machurrucutu dam in the province of Mayabeque, when another almendrón ended up in the water. On that occasion, the vehicle was retrieved with the help of a crane, and investigations were carried out to determine the causes of the incident.
