When the officers arrived at the scene, the victim pointed to the three men, “who were a few meters away, as the ones responsible for entering his home and stealing a refrigerator,” reported local news outlets.

The agents approached the suspects who were in possession of a mini fridge as described by the person who filed the report.

Despite the evasive attitude of the men, the police arrested them and handed them over to the appropriate authorities for legal proceedings to take place.

Challenging the dangers and obstacles of the migration journey, tens of thousands of Cubans have arrived in Mexico over the last five years as part of the massive emigration from the island - the largest exodus in history - in search of reaching the United States and seeking asylum.

However, many have decided to remain on Mexican soil, where they seek asylum and start a new life. More than 11,000 had requested asylum by August 2024, according to data from the country's Refugee Assistance Commission (COMAR).

Reports of Cuban immigrants involved in crimes in Mexico have become increasingly frequent in recent times, as have news stories about kidnappings, disappearances, murders, thefts, scams, and accidents that have victimized dozens of compatriots.
