Recent fatal motorcycle accidents

In Cuba, traffic accidents, particularly those involving motorcycles, continue to be one of the leading causes of deaths and serious injuries on the roads.

The lack of control over traffic, the condition of the roads, and the reckless behavior of drivers are some of the factors that contribute to this problem.

In mid-January, a motorist died after crashing into a truck in Havana.

On July 6, 2024, in Cárdenas, Matanzas, a young couple, Tomás Horta León and Amanda Hernández, lost their lives in a tragic accident when their Kawasaki motorcycle crashed into a tree.

The couple was traveling at high speed, and the impact caused the vehicle to catch fire. Both left behind a small child.

These incidents reflect a persistent problem that continues to affect Cuban families. A lack of awareness regarding road safety and noncompliance with traffic regulations remain key factors in these fatal events.
