The driver of a tow truck from Technical Assistance on the Road (ATV), who deliberately rammed a bus from the same entity, following a dispute that escalated to physical violence, faces charges of public disorder and property damage, aggravated by the social danger of the act.
According to the information disseminated by the local telecenter Tele Bandera in the city of Cárdenas, the individual was driving a vehicle with a trailer while intoxicated.
Upon reaching the intersection of Avenida Sáez, between Calle Mercedes and Calle Salud, he refused to yield the right of way to the personnel transport bus, which led to a verbal exchange with the Transmetro driver.
The conflict escalated quickly, when the bus driver got out of the vehicle to confront the driver of the truck with a trailer, who physically assaulted him, delivering a blow to the head. Immediately afterwards, the aggressor used his vehicle to ram into the front of the bus, causing visible and significant damage, the official source reports.
This version contrasts with the one initially known unofficially, when several witnesses reported that the tow truck driver was attacked by the bus driver and at least two other companions who were carrying bats.
In response, the truck driver climbed into his vehicle and intentionally rammed the bus twice, causing considerable damage.
The images of the incident show the frontal impact sustained by the bus, as well as the damage to the assailant's vehicle.
In addition to the criminal charges, the accused will also be held responsible for the economic damages to the transportation system and for the traffic chaos caused in one of the main arteries of the city during the altercation.
The incident has raised concerns about the behavior of the company's employees and public safety on the roads.
