A 13-year-old boy died in Milan, Italy, after being stabbed on Friday, May 16; authorities are blaming a 27-year-old presumed drug dealer born in Cuba.
According to Milano Corriere, the attacker has been identified as Martínez Despaigne, who has no criminal record. The man works at a company in Melzo and spends the rest of his time selling drugs as a dealer.
Currently, Despaigne is in the San Vittore prison in Milan, accused of attempted murder (not yet convicted) of the 13-year-old boy he allegedly stabbed in the Porta Venezia area and whose dog he killed "for 20 grams of hashish."
According to local media reports, the attack occurred during a supposed drug transaction that went wrong, involving three teenagers in addition to the Cuban.
The 13-year-old boy, accompanied by two friends, one of whom knew the Cuban dealer, had reportedly gone to buy hashish on Viale Vittorio Veneto, not far from the Bastioni di Porta Venezia.
At the site, Martínez Despaigne offered the teenager 20 grams of hashish for the price of one hundred twenty euros. Unsatisfied with the quality, the victim reportedly began to argue with the drug dealer who, at that moment, pulled out a knife and first stabbed the dog and then the boy, puncturing his lung.
Although the three young people got into the car to escape, the attacker clung to the window and continued to deliver more blows.
The boy, with a severe wound in his side that affected a lung, stumbled out before collapsing unconscious in front of the medical center.
Despaigne was located in Pozzuolo Martesana (Milan), at the house where he lives with his mother.
Upon seeing the soldiers, he attempted to escape but was caught and then arrested on the charge of attempted murder of a 13-year-old minor. At the time of his arrest, he had a laceration on his right hand consistent with the assault.
The investigations also led to the discovery of the murder weapon, a knife with a blade approximately 20 cm long.
