The University of Guantánamo announced this Sunday the passing of M. Sc. Vladimir Naranjo Gómez, a renowned jurist, academic, and public servant, whose career profoundly impacted university life at that institution.

"With deep sadness and a sense of collective loss, the Guantánamo University community comes together to mourn the profound passing" of the professor, the institution published on its official Facebook profile.

The university emphasized that Naranjo was not just an official within its organizational structure, but a fundamental pillar in the training of generations of professionals and in the consolidation of the academic project in Guantanamo.

Throughout his career, the academic held key positions such as department head, dean of the faculties of Social Sciences and Humanities and Engineering and Technical Sciences, and finally, vice-rector of Education, a role he occupied until his passing.

In addition to his institutional performance, he was recognized for his intellectual competence, his passion for teaching, and for maintaining a close and humane relationship with students and colleagues.

Weeks prior, she was also hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit of the Leopoldito Martínez Hospital in San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque, due to a serious condition.
