Starting Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the train service will operate with the following schedules:

Departure from Central Station Cargo: 7:50 a.m. → Arrival at Expocuba: 9:10 a.m.

Departure from Expocuba: 9:20 a.m. → Arrival at Central Cargo Station: 10:40 a.m.

New departure from Central Station Cargo: 10:55 a.m. → Arrival at Expocuba: 12:15 p.m.

Final departure from Expocuba: 5:05 p.m. → Arrival at Central Cargo Station: 6:25 p.m.

The service will be available from Wednesday to Sunday, while Monday and Tuesday will be reserved for technical maintenance work on cars and locomotives.

Recently, the train to the eastern beaches of Havana was also refurbished as a low-cost alternative for the residents of the Cuban capital.

The government is trying to alleviate the harsh effects of the severe transportation crisis with the recovery of the railway service in several provinces, such as Ciego de Ávila and Matanzas.

Last week, after seven years of inactivity, the train covering the Morón-Perea-Venegas route in Ciego de Ávila resumed service; meanwhile, the government announced that efforts are underway to restore the historic Hershey electric train.

Valued service with recent challenges

Although the announcement has been well received by the residents of Havana who frequently visit this recreational area, the transportation problem in Cuba remains a complete madness.

The shortage of buses, the lack of fuel, the high prices of private transport, and the endless waits turn each journey into a daily ordeal for thousands of families who can barely manage to move from one point to another.

In this context, any alternative like this train represents a temporary relief within a collapsed system. Cubans face significant challenges getting to work, schools, or visiting their loved ones, and in many cases, they rely on "bottles," carts, or improvised solutions.

In fact, last Thursday, July 17, the train at a level crossing in America farm, in Calabazar. Fortunately, no victims were reported, according to unofficial reports.

Urban mobility has become a daily endurance race, where despair and resignation coexist with a basic need that remains unsolved: to move with dignity.
