The institution stated that the case will follow the corresponding criminal process "with the rigor established by revolutionary justice and in accordance with the magnitude and seriousness of the incident."

Funeral and reactions

The officer was memorialized and buried on Saturday in his hometown of Taguasco, Sancti Spíritus, in a ceremony with military honors. Family members, neighbors, and high-ranking officials from MININT attended the event, including Minister Lázaro Alberto Álvarez Casas.

The first secretaries of the Party in Villa Clara and Sancti Spíritus, Suseli Morfa González and Delvy Pérez Martín, were also present. Raúl Castro and the ruling Miguel Díaz-Canel sent floral wreaths.

After the crime, MININT organized acts of revolutionary reaffirmation in several provinces, where the official discourse reiterated the idea that incidents of this nature will receive “the decisive response of revolutionary laws and the unanimous condemnation of the people.”
