The Cuban influencer Ariel Ramos Perdomo, known for his videos with his "grandmother" Martha, has touched his followers by openly discussing his sexual orientation. During his appearance on This Is Not a Podcast, the young creator confessed that he is gay and shared how he experienced the journey of personal acceptance, as well as his family's reaction to the news.
"If you're gay and feel like your world is falling apart, don't let anything or anyone bother you. Be happy first, forget about mom and dad if they don't support you. Be happy you", expressed Perdomo, who stated that his testimony aims to support those going through similar situations. He also recounted that his mother had difficulties accepting his reality, while his father reacted with a display of love and understanding that deeply impacted him: "I couldn't stop crying with him. I told him: this is what it is. He hugged me and said he didn't care about anything, that I was his son and that the most important thing in life was me."
After the publication of the interview, the influencer shared a message that reflected his emotional state: “Who I love does not define me, but how I treat others does. This podcast was therapy for me. Thank you all”. His words, sincere and transparent, sparked a wave of support and admiration among his followers, who celebrated his courage and authenticity.
Social media was filled with messages of affection. “How lovely. We should be as brave as you and as empathetic as your parents,” wrote one user. Some shared their own experiences, finding in Ariel's story an encouragement to embrace their identities with pride and without fear.
Among the comments, there were also personal stories filled with deep emotion. "I literally went through the same thing. My mother kicked me out, and I had to leave my country. Your story helped me heal," a young person confessed. "Your preferences don’t define you as a person; your actions do," remarked another follower. Although some opinions revealed the prejudices that still exist in Cuban society, respect and empathy prevailed in the conversation.
Currently, Ariel Perdomo resides in Miami, where he continues to develop his career as a content creator and is in a relationship with someone who, as he revealed, is 10 years older than him. From a distance, he continues to share moments with his grandmother Martha and maintains the connection with the audience that watched him grow on social media. With calmness and pride, he affirms that he feels complete and free: “It was difficult, but I have accepted myself, and now I am happy.” His story, marked by sincerity and family love, confirms that happiness comes from authenticity and the courage to show oneself as one truly is.
