Trump cancels all the executive orders that Biden signed with the autopen

The Autopen cannot be used without direct approval from the President of the United States, Trump said.

The President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, announced this Friday the immediate nullification of all executive orders and official documents signed by Joe Biden using the autopen, a mechanical device that replicates presidential signatures.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump described all the documents approved in this manner during the previous administration as “illegal and ineffective.”

"Any document signed by the drowsy Joe Biden with the Autopen —which accounted for approximately 92% of them— is now invalid and has no legal effect. The Autopen cannot be used without direct approval from the President of the United States," the leader wrote.

The president also assured that Biden did not directly participate in many of the executive decisions of his administration and accused his team of “usurping the presidency” while “surrounding him in the Oval Office.”

The autopen is a mechanical device used since the 1950s to authentically reproduce the signature of the president on letters and documents.

However, its use in executive orders has generated legal controversy, especially during the pandemic, when Biden signed several emergency documents remotely.

Trump claims that this use was “a violation of presidential authority” and announced that those responsible could face charges of perjury if it is confirmed that Biden -whom he did not miss the opportunity to call "sleepy"- approved the procedure.

The measure has sparked a broad political and legal debate. Democrats view it as “a political maneuver without legal basis,” while several Republicans celebrate it as “a restoration of legitimate presidential authority.”

Sources from the White House confirmed that a formal executive order is being prepared to implement the revocation, which will need to specify which documents lose validity and under what conditions.

Among the documents signed with autopen during the Biden administration are included environmental measures, immigration programs, student debt relief, and health decrees.

If the cancellation is applied strictly, thousands of beneficiaries of federal programs could be affected.

The announcement comes after other controversial decisions made by the leader, such as the suspension of migration from "Third World" countries and the revocation of citizenship from immigrants who "undermine national tranquility".
