A traffic accident that occurred in Havana resulted in the death of Lieutenant Colonel Randy Callejas Ruiz, a high-ranking official of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), according to information released this Friday by the organization's official profile on Facebook.

According to the publication, Callejas Ruiz, who served as the deputy head of the Directorate of Technologies and Systems, passed away on December 30 at the age of 48 due to a traffic accident.

So far, the authorities have not provided details about the circumstances under which the accident occurred.

The Ministry of the Interior announced that the funeral services will be held on Monday, January 5, at 3:00 PM, in the black marble pantheon of the ministry itself, located in the Colón Necropolis in Havana.

In the institutional note, the organization highlighted that Callejas Ruiz had nearly 30 years of service, with responsibilities related to technological modernization, the computerization of society, and the country's cybersecurity.

He also recalled receiving numerous awards throughout his career, including medals for anniversaries of the Minint and State Security.

The information generated multiple reactions on social media, where users expressed condolences to their family, coworkers, and loved ones, while official silence continues regarding the details of the incident that led to their passing.
