Two men were arrested in Matanzas with several pounds of beef, bones, and offal.
“Recently, the police authorities raided two homes in the Limonar community in the municipality of the same name, and the almost unsurprising discovery was several pounds of beef, bones, and carefully stored entrails; obviously, a farmer was affected by the theft and the death of one of his cattle,” said the official page Con Todos La Victoria on Facebook.
The detained individuals, Diosley Serrano Yero and Gerson Siberia Ramos, "have gone from being hosts of an improvised kitchen to being the protagonists of a judicial process for the illegal slaughter of cattle, a complicated battle based on the evidence and the previous records they have had with the Justice system, especially the second who has been involved in thefts, incidents against livestock, and sexual abuse," adds the source.
The Cuban regime severely punishes the increasing cases of theft and livestock slaughter in the country, amid food shortages and rising prices that are affecting the population.
In October of last year, for instance, in a trial covered by state television, the First Criminal Chamber of the Provincial People's Court of Artemisa sentenced two citizens to seven and eight years of imprisonment, respectively, for theft and illegal slaughter of large livestock.
