The excitement of seeing snow for the first time went viral on TikTok thanks to a video shared by the user @ariadna.guerra, a Cuban living in Barcelona, who captured the moment when she and her partner enjoyed a snowy day in the Catalan city.
In the video, which has garnered thousands of views, both can be seen walking under an umbrella while laughing and expressing their joy at seeing the snowflakes fall around them. “We looked like two kids,” Ariadna remarked with laughter while showing the scene.
The post has sparked a wave of comments from other Cubans living outside the island, many of whom identified with the experience of seeing snow for the first time after emigrating.
In Cuba, where the tropical climate prevents this phenomenon, snow is a distant dream. For many emigrants, their first encounter with it represents a mix of surprise, nostalgia, and joy, as reflected in the images of Ariadna and her partner, bundled up and happy in the midst of Barcelona's white landscape.
"It's snowing!" says one of them in the video, as they both smile with the spontaneity of someone discovering something new and wonderful.
