The arrival of a new cold front, combined with a trough and high humidity levels, keeps atmospheric instability conditions across much of Cuba, bringing overcast skies, showers, rain, and some thunderstorms.

Satellite images show the cloud cover associated with the cold front moving across the Gulf of Mexico, according to meteorologist Raydel Ruisanchez on the social media platform .

In the western half of the country, overcast skies prevail, with areas of rain extending from Mayabeque to Sancti Spíritus. According to forecasts, this situation will persist for the next few hours, and it is possible that the precipitation may be locally intense in some areas.

The influence of the frontal system could also be felt in the central part of the country, where isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected, favored by high relative humidity and instability in the mid-layers of the atmosphere.

Meanwhile, in the United States, a cold front has caused a notable drop in temperatures in Florida, a rather unusual phenomenon for the so-called "Sunshine State." This Sunday, January 18, snowfall was reported for several hours in the city of Marianna, located in Jackson County, in the northwest of the state.

In addition, South Florida woke up under the influence of the coldest air that has arrived in the region in almost four years. Authorities issued cold weather advisories for inland areas of Broward and Miami-Dade counties, with minimum temperatures in the range of 40 degrees Fahrenheit and wind chills dropping to as low as 30 degrees.

According to Local 10, the days have been characterized by clear skies and dry conditions, although with highs barely reaching 60 °F, confirming the stark temperature contrast associated with the advancing cold front in the region.
