Havana is facing a widespread power outage that leaves nearly the entire capital without service, after the Provincial Electric Company confirmed the interruption of supply in the city's sectors.

According to the information published by the entity on its official Telegram channel, the generation deficit reaches 319 megawatts, a figure that has caused the shutdown of five out of the six blocks in the area. Block 2 has already accumulated more than seven consecutive hours without electricity, according to official reports.

As of 7:11 p.m., the time of the last report released, no new updates or clarifications regarding the causes of the outage or an estimated timeline for service restoration had been provided. The company only stated that technical teams are working on the gradual recovery of the system.

Minutes earlier, the Electric Company announced that it would begin to restore service for block 2, without specifying the extent or the time when full reconnection would occur.

The blackout adds to a persistent energy crisis that keeps Havana and the rest of the country subjected to daily power outages, amid a deep fuel shortage, deteriorating infrastructure, and a lack of timely information for the public.
