The Provincial Government of Las Tunas denied on Thursday the circulation of an audio on digital platforms claiming that in Cuba "there are five days of electricity left for the entire population," that the country is at "zero fuel," and that a "national strike" has been declared.

In an informative note, the authorities acknowledged that Cuba is facing a complex energy situation, characterized by a fuel deficit, prolonged blackouts, and impacts on transportation and daily life.

However, they stated that the audio manipulates those facts and constructs a scenario of total collapse that "does not correspond to reality," although the latter is not very far from collapse.

The statement highlights that there is public information and official declarations regarding the energy crisis that have been timely disseminated, and it emphasizes that the spread of alarmist content only contributes to generating tension, hoarding, and disorder.

The provincial government urged citizens to seek information from official channels and reliable sources, and requested that they refrain from spreading false news that, as indicated, aims to confuse and destabilize.

He also reiterated his commitment to keeping the public informed "with transparency and truthfulness" –which is quite utopian in the Cuban reality– and called for collective responsibility in the face of attempts at manipulation in the current context.
