According to a statement published on the official page on Facebook of the hospital, the minor was referred from the municipality of Jovellanos with a fever lasting several days and respiratory symptoms.
Upon admission, diagnostic studies were conducted and treatment with broad-spectrum antibiotics was initiated, initially finding him stable.
The note explains that later the child developed complications that necessitated his transfer to the Progressive Care Unit.
There, he received supportive care and mechanical ventilation due to neurological deterioration.
Despite medical interventions and adherence to established protocols, the patient developed generalized sepsis with irreversible multi-organ failure, which led to his death from septic shock.
The hospital indicated that they are awaiting the results of the autopsy to clarify the definitive causes of death.
He also extended his condolences to the family and reiterated his commitment to providing quality and transparent medical care.
