A young Spanish woman has gone viral on TikTok after sharing her experience traveling to Cuba, a country that —as she confessed— left her with a mix of unforgettable feelings.
"Cuba has been one of the toughest yet most incredible trips I've taken in my life," he stated in the video, where he explains that he arrived on the Island "without high expectations, just with a backpack and the excitement of discovering a new country that everyone had spoken about so positively."
During his journey, he visited iconic destinations such as Viñales, Matanzas, Santa Clara, Trinidad, Cayo Iguana, Playa Girón, and Havana. However, he assures that by the end of the trip, he understood that the most valuable aspect of Cuba is not its landscapes.
"At the end of the trip, I realized that the best part of Cuba isn't its postcard landscapes, but its people," he expressed. In his testimony, he emphasized the warmth of the Cubans and the ease with which they share their personal stories.
The traveler described Cubans as "sweet and close people who speak to you in your own language about their history and dreams," and added that she found "people who give you everything without having anything, a resilient and fighting people with overwhelming dignity."
His reflection also included references to the harsh daily reality faced by citizens on the Island, marked by constant blackouts, fuel shortages, and the accumulation of trash in the streets. "Despite everything, they always have a kind word to offer you," he remarked.
The video has generated numerous reactions on social media, where some users agreed with its portrayal of the hospitality of the Cuban people, while others pointed out that their experience reflects the deep economic and social difficulties faced by the country.
Amid a prolonged crisis marked by structural shortages and increasing migration, testimonies like this highlight the contrast between the warmth of the Cuban people and the limitations imposed by decades of inefficient state management.
