The Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel assured this Friday that the country is facing "hours of threat to independence and national sovereignty."

In a message posted on his X account, he stated: “Today we have honored Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, Father of the Fatherland, as is fitting in times of threat to independence and national sovereignty: working and training.”

The statement was accompanied by a video showing citizens participating in military training exercises alongside units of the Cuban Army, in a clear appeal for internal mobilization.

The message arrives on the same day that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that his administration will initiate a "friendly and controlled takeover" of Cuba, without providing specific details about the scope of that strategy.

According to Trump, the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, "is holding talks with the regime at the highest level."

In parallel, authorities in Havana insist that Cuba is not experiencing "a crisis," and they urge the international community to reject what they characterize as "economic and energy strangulation," as well as to provide urgent support in light of a situation they describe as of "extreme gravity."
