The Cuban-American congressman Carlos Giménez asserted this Monday that what recently happened with the Iranian regime should be interpreted as a direct warning to the Cuban government and advised Havana to sit down and negotiate with President Donald Trump before it is too late.

In a video posted on his X account, Giménez asserted that what happened in Iran is not just an international news story, but a warning for every dictatorship that believes power lasts forever.

He added that the Cuban regime should pay attention because, as he stated, governments based on repression and fear eventually fall, and freedom ultimately prevails.

During his intervention, the legislator noted that President Trump has made it clear that he is willing to negotiate but is also prepared to act if the other party is not willing.

He recalled that the Iranian regime refused to negotiate and that the United States was not willing to allow Tehran to become a nuclear power or continue expanding its arsenal of ballistic missiles.

Giménez stated that the U.S. president has taken a similar stance regarding Cuba and suggested that the best option for the regime is to initiate discussions to find a way to improve the situation for the Cuban people.

He recommended that they negotiate now while they still have the opportunity.

The congressman concluded by asking whether the Cuban regime is paying attention to recent events and reiterated that, in his opinion, freedom is knocking at the door and Cuba could be the next scene of change.
