The Cuban infielder and outfielder Anyelo Fleitas recently left Cuba and arrived in the Dominican Republic with the goal of signing with a Major League (MLB) organization, as reported by journalist Francys Romero on his social media.
Fleitas, just 15 years old, was part of the Cuba team that participated in the U-15 World Pre-Championship in September 2025, and is regarded as one of the most promising offensive talents of his generation.
Highlighted numbers in the National U-15
The young baseball player comes from an outstanding performance in the last U-15 National Championship with Havana, where he finished with an average of .439 (41-19) and drove in 26 runs, figures that placed him among the most productive hitters of the tournament.
Growing exodus in lower categories
With his departure, Fleitas becomes the 13th player out of the 20 who were part of the Cuban roster for the U-15 World Cup qualifying tournament to leave the island in search of professional opportunities.
The movement reflects the growing trend of the exodus of Cuban players, who leave the island in search of fulfilling their dream of joining the MLB system.
