The Juan Paz Camejo Hospital, located in Sagua de Tánamo, Holguín, has reorganized and "consolidated" several of its services due to a lack of fuel to maintain its generator, as reported in a Facebook post by Dr. Yohandra Ramírez Matos, who signs the message as "Institutional Health Communicator."

The message acknowledges the energy issue by pointing out the "complex energy context that keeps the Generator Group at Juan Paz Camejo Hospital without fuel," a situation that necessitated the implementation of a series of measures to maintain the partial operation of the institution.

Among the decisions made is the "Reorganization of services (rooms are being consolidated)." Additionally, the "Guard Corps and the Intensive Care Unit" are being maintained with full vitality, for which the hospital has two floors available.

The publication specifies that "cases corresponding to the Maternal and Child Program are recorded," as well as other patients evaluated by specialists in the municipality. It also states that "patients whose pathology or condition poses a threat to their lives are transferred to Guillermo Luis Hospital (Moa)."

As part of the contingency measures, the number of rechargeable lamps was increased "to 18 for services, areas, and departments," including outdoor zones such as the Guard Corps. Additionally, "the connection to productive forms was reinforced to ensure food supplies as well as elements for cooking."

According to the text, these actions "are monitored daily by the Municipal Intendant," while efforts continue to address the energy situation.

The reorganization of services is announced days after it was reported that, in order to urgently operate on a patient with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, it was necessary to restore the electricity service during the night at the Juan Paz Camejo Hospital, at a time when the facility was without electricity.

In other provinces, there have also been reports of damage to sanitary facilities. In Camagüey, a blackout left the pediatric hospital in the municipality of Florida without electricity, and activist Guelmi Abdul denounced that the center was "plunged into complete darkness"; in his post, he questioned: "A hospital dedicated to children's care lacks the minimum lighting to provide assistance. Who does this really hurt?" and added: "This is not social justice. This is not the system they promised. This is the shamelessness of socialism." The testimony was accompanied by images of the hospital in the dark.

In Havana, images of people sleeping on the floor in front of the Comandante Manuel Fajardo Clinical Surgical Hospital were shared, in a scene attributed to the lack of resources and accommodation alternatives for patients and families arriving from other provinces.

So far, no public timelines have been reported for the normalization of fuel supply that would allow the Sagua de Tánamo hospital to fully restore all its services.
