Less than six percent of the electrical service has been restored in Havana following the widespread blackout that affected much of the country, according to information released this Wednesday.
The Electric Company of Havana informed on Telegram that, as of 6:55 PM, two substations and seven distribution circuits in the capital had been restored.
According to the published data, these maneuvers provide electricity to 21,176 customers, which represents only 5.49% of the total in the city.
In other words: a very small number of customers have access to the service.
The report also indicates that the restored energy amounts to 13.48 megawatts within the Havana electrical system.
The authorities indicated that the recovery process of the National Electroenergetic System (SEN) is being carried out gradually and will depend on the technical conditions of the system.
In another update, the Ministry of Energy and Mines reported on X that the restoration of the National Electroenergetic System is making progress.
According to the entity, in the eastern region, electricity generation continues to support vital services up to Camagüey.
In the western part of the country, at 7:15 PM, two units from Energás began generating electricity, supplying power to the Diezmero, Naranjito, and Melones substations in Havana.
TV Yumurí reported that the Comandante Faustino Pérez Hospital and the area known as Chirimoya, in the city of Matanzas, have electricity supplied by the generators from Guanábana.
The director of the provincial Electric Company, Alejandro Rodríguez Aspeitía, explained that with the 16 motors, they also aim to reach Energás Varadero to energize the plant and get it started by creating micro electric islands.
However, he specified that this time the situation is more complex, as the pumping groups of Colón, Girón, and Los Arabos are out of service due to a lack of fuel.
The executive added that they must also activate the circuits in the center of the city of Matanzas to connect with the provincial power dispatch.
A failure at the Antonio Guiteras thermoelectric plant, the largest in Cuba, caused the disconnection of the National Electric System (SEN) from Camagüey to Pinar del Río, according to the Electric Union.
