A young Cuban decided to dedicate the first money he earned on the social media platform TikTok to improving his mother's kitchen, a gesture that has moved thousands of people on social media and was shared in a video by content creator Freddy King Flow.
According to Freddy in a video posted on Instagram, the young man received his first payment from the platform and decided to use it to buy appliances and utensils for his mother's home, rather than spending the money on himself. "This kid blew my mind," the TikToker remarked while recounting the experience.
According to his account, the young man called him after receiving the money and suggested going out. "Today he received his first payment from TikTok, his first paycheck, and he says to me: 'Freddy, let's go out'," he explained.
Shopping to improve your mother's kitchen
They both headed to a store that sells appliances and household items. There, the boy began to pick out the equipment he wanted to take to his mother.
He bought an electric pot, a rice cooker, a blender, and other utensils for preparing food. According to the content creator, the young man even turned down a cheaper option to choose one of better quality. "I was looking for one of the plastic ones... he told me, 'no, for my mom, the best,'" he recalled.
In addition to kitchen items, he bought fans for his house because "there are two rooms in my house and my mom doesn't have a fan," he said.
All the equipment was chosen in red, her favorite color.
A surprise prepared with care
After purchasing the items, they both returned home to set up and arrange the equipment in the kitchen.
Freddy explained that, to prepare the surprise, they asked the boy's father to take the mother out under some pretext so she wouldn't see what they were organizing.
When mom finally returned home, she had no idea that a surprise awaited her. Her son, daughter, and Freddy had organized everything to reveal the renovated kitchen.
Seeing what her son had done for her, the lady could not contain her emotions. She broke down in tears upon discovering the new equipment installed in her kitchen.
Freddy confessed that the moment deeply moved him. "I couldn't hold back my tears for what that young man does," he said.
A gesture that reflects the reality of many families
The story also highlights the difficult economic situation that many families in Cuba are experiencing.
The deep economic crisis, coupled with very high inflation and ever-increasing prices, makes basic household items practically unaffordable for many people.
