The cacerolazos were heard again on the night of this Tuesday in several neighborhoods of Havana, where residents protested by banging pots from their homes amid the prolonged blackouts affecting the Cuban capital.
A video posted on Facebook by journalist José Raúl Gallego shows the moment when residents of Vedado bang pots and metal utensils from balconies and buildings, in a scene that has repeated for five consecutive nights in different areas of the city.
Also, recordings were collected from El Cerro, published by journalist Mario Pentón, where residents participated in the protest as a manifestation of their discontent over the lack of electricity and the prolonged energy crisis.
So far, there are reports of protests in El Cerro, Plaza de la Revolución, and Marianao. In the latter municipality, residents claim that several people may have been detained, although these reports have not been independently confirmed.
On social media, users also mention protests with pots and pans in Old Havana, suggesting that the nighttime protests may have spread to other neighborhoods in the capital.
The protests are occurring amid long power outages that have marked the daily lives of Cubans in recent days, generating increasing discontent among the population.
