The Cuban-American congresswoman María Elvira Salazar stated that the moment of freedom for Cuba has arrived, amidst a backdrop of increasing pressure on the regime and signs of discontent within the island.

In a message posted on X, Salazar stated that this stage represents a real opportunity for political change.

"The moment for Cuba's freedom has arrived!" he wrote, emphasizing that the Cuban exile community will not accept any solution tied to the repressive apparatus of the regime.

The legislator explained that her statements came after an appearance on NPR’s Morning Edition, where she shared her views on the current Cuban context and the position of the exile community in the United States.

In another message, Salazar referred to the recent protests on the island and emphasized the symbolism of the demonstrations.

"The sound of the pots and pans ringing throughout Cuba is the sound of freedom," he stated.

The congresswoman also stated that, from her position as a representative of the Cuban exiles, she senses a moment of greater hope. “Hope is more alive than ever,” she affirmed.

His statements come in a context marked by the economic crisis, power outages, and an increase in protests in various regions of the country, as well as by pressure from the administration of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who have insisted on the need for changes on the island.
