The Cuban activist Iliana Curra Lussón confronted protesters from the No Kings movement on Saturday in Calle Ocho, Miami, shouting anti-communist slogans at them.
In a video shared by the exiled Cuban rapper El Funky on his Instagram account, a woman can be heard hurling insults at the protesters.
The incident occurred on the day the No Kings mobilized millions of people in over 3,000 locations across the United States and cities around the world in opposition to President Donald Trump.
In the video, the woman directly confronts the protesters with phrases like "Communist! Communist! Down with communism!"
El Funky described the scene as "this lady confronted a caravan of communists in the middle of Calle 8", framing the episode within the anti-communist discourse of the Cuban diaspora in Miami.
The woman's reaction reflects the deep tension that exists within the exiled Cuban community regarding these demonstrations, which many perceive as a platform infiltrated by radical left organizations.
In Miami, the "No Kings" marches took place at Tropical Park and Máximo Gómez Park in Little Havana, organized by Miami-Dade Democrats and Miami Indivisible.
The clash occurs at a time of immense tension for the Cuban community: since March 13, Cuba has been experiencing a new wave of protests in Morón, Ciego de Ávila, over blackouts lasting up to twenty hours, food shortages, and political repression, with at least 14 detainees reported by Cubalex.
The exiles in Miami responded to those protests with caravans, gatherings in front of Restaurant Versalles, and a rally in Hialeah on March 25 under the slogan "Cuba Next", urging Trump to prioritize Cuban freedom.
El Funky, a member of the San Isidro Movement and co-author of "Patria y Vida" —the anthem of the protests on July 11, 2021—, has been in exile since November 2021 and has organized anti-communist concerts and acts of solidarity with Cuban political prisoners.
