Lázaro Valle, one of the best pitchers in the history of Cuban baseball, revealed in a recent interview that he has been trying for four years to recover his mother's remains who passed away, but has been unable to do so due to lack of transportation and neglect from the regime's sports institutions.

"You know how long I have been trying to find a way to recover my mother's remains, it's been four years. And I haven't been able to retrieve her. I don't have transportation, but I need to get my mother's remains. I feel tied up and helpless," declared the legendary pitcher with visible frustration.

Valle, who has accumulated 25 consecutive victories in National Series, a historic record in Cuban baseball, currently lives in precarious conditions and without the support of the institutions he represented for decades.

Among the difficulties he faces, the former baseball player reported that his car has been technically declared a total loss since 2023, which prevents him from being able to arrange for the transfer of his mother's remains, a situation that reflects the neglect many of Cuba's great sports idols experience once they are no longer useful to the system.

Two weeks ago, the former player reported the hardships faced by other sports stars from Cuba amid the serious political and economic crisis in the Caribbean nation.

The current interview reminds us that Valle is a Cuban pitcher who has his own plaque in the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown but today lives in obscurity in his own homeland.
