President Donald Trump declared this Wednesday that Iran's nuclear program has been effectively dismantled and that the United States will work alongside Tehran to extract the remnants of enriched uranium buried after the bombings with B-2 aircraft.
In a message posted this morning on his social network Truth Social, Trump claimed that Iran has undergone what he referred to as a very productive regime change and that there will be no more uranium enrichment in that country.
"The United States will work closely with Iran, which we have determined has undergone what will be a very productive regime change," wrote Trump.
The president announced that both countries will cooperate to "unearth and remove" the so-called "nuclear dust", meaning the remnants of enriched uranium that were left deeply buried after the attacks by the B-2 bombers.
"There will be no uranium enrichment, and the United States, working with Iran, will unearth and remove all the deeply buried 'nuclear dust,' he clarified."
Trump also asserted that those facilities have been under very precise satellite surveillance from the Space Command since the date of the attack, and that "nothing has been touched since then."
The announcement comes on the same day that Trump reported a two-week bilateral ceasefire, reached with the mediation of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and contingent upon the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran had closed, causing maritime traffic to collapse by 97%.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, confirmed that Iran would cease its defensive operations if U.S. and Israeli attacks stopped.
In his post, Trump also pointed out that tariff and sanction relief is being negotiated with Iran, and that "many of the 15 points have already been agreed upon."
The military context preceding these statements is the Midnight Hammer Operation, carried out on June 22, 2025, during which seven B-2 Spirit bombers attacked the Iranian nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan with 30,000-pound bunker-busting bombs, marking the first operational use of this weaponry.
Following that operation, the U.S. and Israel launched what is known as Operation Epic Fury, which targeted over 5,000 Iranian assets, eliminated the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and 48 other high-ranking military officials, and degraded 90% of Iran's missile capabilities and 95% of its drones.
In March 2026, Trump had already stated in an interview that Iran's nuclear capabilities were "totally obliterated last summer", although he acknowledged that the "nuclear dust" buried in tunnels still remained, the removal of which he is now announcing as part of a broader agreement with Tehran.
According to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran had 440.9 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% as of March 2026, enough for approximately nine nuclear bombs, material that would now be under joint control as announced by Trump.
