The Cuban reggaeton artist El Chulo shared a video on Instagram yesterday that became the most emotional moment he has posted from Mexico: his reunion with his son Justin, the baby he has with his partner María Karla.
In the clip, El Chulo embraces Justin while María Karla records the moment from the side, a witness and accomplice to this long-awaited reunion. The video was accompanied by a phrase that sums it all up: Happiness is not having it all, but loving what you have.
Justin is the second child of the artist, born in June 2025 as a result of his relationship with the influencer María Karla. The couple baptized him together in September of that same year, demonstrating that, despite their ups and downs as a couple, they are a team when it comes to their child.
The reunion comes weeks after María Karla traveled from the United States to Mexico to see the artist, in an emotional encounter at the airport on March 23, when El Chulo called her "the love of my life". On that occasion, the baby did not travel with her. Now, with Justin in her arms, the family circle closes in the sweetest way.
The distance from his children has been one of the most recurring themes in the artist's posts since he arrived in Mexico in early March. On the 16th of that month, he wrote on Instagram: I love them and miss them with all my heart, alongside a picture of his two little ones. El Chulo also has an older son, Jadiel, who remains in the United States.
The context behind these images is powerful. The artist arrived in Mexico after voluntarily signing his departure from the United States in early March, following weeks of detention by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which arrested him on January 22 at his residence in Homestead, Florida, due to a deportation order issued in 2018 related to a firearm incident in Tampa in 2017. During his detention at the facility known as "Alligator Alcatraz," his lawyer reported that he was beaten. Upon reemerging from Mexico on March 13, the artist stated that his arrest did him "a favor" and announced new music.
The post about the reunion with Justin garnered over 106,000 views in just a few hours, nearly 25,000 likes, and 898 comments, accompanied by a flood of hearts and applause from the Cuban entertainment industry. Among the artists who reacted to the post were Osmani García, Sachy Sánchez, and Seidy La Niña. Sachy Sánchez commented: "Wow, my brother, I am so happy for you," while El Teque celebrated it in his characteristic style: "A serum." Manager Raymel also joined in: "That’s awesome, I’m so happy."
