The Cuban singer Velito El Bufón sparked a new wave of criticism on social media after posting an intimate video yesterday in his Instagram stories with his new partner, Paula Martínez, featuring kisses, caresses, romantic scenes, and the text "I love you" overlaying the images.
The moment could not have been more controversial: the publication arrived just one day after the 21st birthday of Thalía, his ex-partner and mother of his two children, whose second baby, Thiago, was born only on February 9, just two months ago.
The Cuban entertainment page Un Martí To Durako shared the material, and comments quickly flooded in, with over 1,240 reactions and nearly 85,000 views in just a few hours.
The dominant tone was one of disbelief at the speed with which the singer declared his love for the new partner, a young blonde who works as a cabin crew member and with whom he was seen for the first time in Spain last March.
"To say I love you is like saying Asere," "How quickly men fall in love," "She wouldn't look at him if he weren't famous," said some users.
"Nobody is obligated to be with anyone, but there’s something called Empathy. Just recently, his ex gave birth to their second baby, hormones are all over the place, dealing with depression, sleepless nights... I think he should have waited longer before making such a dramatic exit, sorry but I can't give him that." said another.
There were also those who came to Thalía's defense with a warning message: "Hello, I remind you that Thalía says she hasn't laughed and you all know the saying... Little one, you're going to suffer."
The context further exacerbates the situation: Velito left Cuba on February 12, just three days after Thiago's birth, and the breakup became public on February 20 when Thalía announced it on Instagram. "I'm recently a mother, and for the sake of my well-being, I didn't want any controversy," she explained at that time.
Meanwhile, Thalía celebrated her 21st birthday this past Monday in Varadero alongside her children and in the company of Harold Iglesias, who would be her new partner.
The timing of Velito also did not help musically: on the same day he released the video for "Te amo," he launched a preview of his upcoming song "Te echo de menos", set to debut on Thursday the 17th. Days earlier, on April 9, he had premiered "Cuidámela" alongside Dany Ome and Kevincito El 13, with verses that many interpreted as an apology to Thalía: "I know I hurt you by swimming with other fish… but I wish for you to be happy, if in the end, you deserve it." The combination of songs dedicated to his ex and romantic videos with his new partner earned him the nickname "the Shakiro of Cuba" among his followers.
