A Cuban man was found dead in Guyana with stab wounds

Authorities in Guyana are searching for an 18-year-old as the main suspect in the homicide of a Cuban citizen that occurred on Melanie Market Street.

José Aurelio Ramírez, a 54-year-old Cuban citizen, was stabbed to death early Sunday morning on a street in the Melanie Market area, east of Demerara, in Guyana.

According to the official police report, a patrol was conducting routine rounds in the area when they noticed the presence of an emergency team attending to a man lying on the pavement, reported the media News Room Guyana.

Ramírez's body had multiple stab wounds to the chest, ribs, and chin. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Cuban citizen who was found alongside the victim was not injured and is cooperating with authorities as a witness. So far, an unidentified suspect has been arrested, while a second individual remains at large.

For its part, the Guyana Police issued a search warrant for Tyrese Blair, an 18-year-old resident of Buxton Middle Walk, as the suspected perpetrator of the homicide.

Blair is actively being sought, and authorities have requested the public's assistance in locating him, said the media outlet.

The body of Ramírez was transferred to the Memorial Gardens funeral home, where an autopsy will be performed to confirm the exact cause of death.

For now, no details have been revealed about the motive for the attack or the relationship between the victim and the suspects.
