Four people are in critical condition, two of whom are minors, due to the severe injuries sustained in the tragic mass accident that occurred this Sunday in the municipality of Majagua, in Ciego de Ávila, which claimed the lives of four people.
In the medical report issued on the morning of this Monday, Dr. Julio Díaz Agramonte, director of the Roberto Rodríguez Teaching General Hospital in Morón, updated the condition of the eight patients who continue to receive care there: four in critical condition, two serious, and two under observation.
Díaz explained to the local press that of the nine patients referred to that hospital after the accident, one died due to a cardiorespiratory arrest, from which they could not recover despite the resuscitation efforts made by the medical staff.
Regarding the patients hospitalized in critical condition, it was noted that two remain in the Pediatric intensive care unit with ventilation support. One of them, a 14-year-old boy, was operated on by Orthopedics, and his fractures were stabilized. According to Díaz, his hemodynamics have been more stable since early morning and “he shows slight improvement despite his critical condition.”
Two other patients in critical condition are in intensive care, both on ventilators: one with a traumatic brain injury and a laminar subdural hematoma, while the other also has a head injury, pulmonary contusion, and a right pneumothorax. "Both are stable," he stated.
Díaz also detailed the condition of critically ill and monitored patients, emphasizing that they are stable.
The director of the Morón hospital stated that the center has all the resources, including materials, medications, and imaging equipment, and that "we have provided good follow-up" for the patients. "At this moment, they have everything they need to continue their treatment," he asserted.
