Massive accident in Ciego de Ávila leaves three critically injured

Shortly before, at around 5:40 a.m., another mass accident in Ciego de Ávila resulted in a preliminary count of 27 injured, including three in critical condition, following the collision of a Girón bus with an animal-drawn cart in the community of La Caoba, in the municipality of Venezuela, as confirmed by local media Televisión Avileña and Periódico Invasor.

The three more seriously injured individuals are presenting severe cranial traumas and closed abdominal trauma with free fluid in the cavity, with a high likelihood of requiring surgical intervention, explained Dr. Inés Padrón González, head of the Emergency Department at the Dr. Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial Hospital, where they are currently hospitalized.

In total, 24 of the injured were treated at the municipal polyclinic, and three were transferred to the provincial hospital, where officials from the Communist Party and the Avileño government are overseeing the medical care.

The accident occurred in a rural area with reduced visibility and poor road conditions, factors that may have contributed to the incident, although the causes are still under investigation.
