A Cuban is taking social media by storm with a video that has made half the world laugh. In the clip, the creator—identified as @barbaton_ on Instagram—comments on a news story from the Cuban newscast discussing oil deposits in the center of the country, and decides to send a direct message to Donald Trump.
“Trump, you crowned it. Oil right here, very close. You’re crazy, Trump. If you have oil on the corner, don’t go to Venezuela or Saudi Arabia”, he says with laughter, fully embodying his character. With his fiery tone and exaggerated gestures, the Cuban holds nothing back. “We need to get on this right now. You don’t even need Delta Force; with the Hialeah police, you’ll have them out in a minute. We Cubans will give you all the oil”, he concludes, eliciting guffaws.
The video, recorded in a humorous tone, references the current political situation in Venezuela, following the capture of Nicolás Maduro by the United States and the announcement of a multimillion-dollar investment to rebuild its oil industry. Barbaton seized the moment and turned the Cuban news into a perfect parody.
The comments came in quickly and were almost as funny as the video. “Trumpy, we’ll give you all the oil and two beaches,” wrote one follower. Another added: “We’ll gift you the Isle of Youth so you can build the largest golf course in the world”. A third joined in the joke with: “They even mention it on the news, Canel is next.”
Among the thousands of reactions, there were also those who mixed laughter with hope. “God bless the Cubans, this year freedom and democracy will come for you too,” commented a Venezuelan user. Another summarized what many were thinking: “Run Trump, the hidden treasure is waiting for you in Sancti Spíritus.”
