The Cuban crisis has reached a critical point following the capture of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, a development that left the Havana regime without its main economic support. With Caracas out of the picture, Cuba no longer receives the oil that kept it afloat, and blackouts and shortages worsen day by day. Today, the Island is more isolated than ever, on the brink of collapse.

Mr. Raúl Castro, your government has already ruined the country; you have no help from anyone. Venezuela, which used to support you with oil and money, can no longer assist you. Are you going to cling to Putin as your lifeline? Moscow has its own wars and limitations; after Maduro's downfall, the Kremlin only protested in words, without being able to offer Cuba any real rescue. Meanwhile, everyday Cubans suffer from blackouts, hunger, and misery on a daily basis. With each passing day of this agony, more people are losing hope.

The reality is that, sooner or later, their regime will fall. Their allies are collapsing one after another; as an analyst pointed out, "if Venezuela was the beginning of the end for the Castro-Maduro axis, Cuba could be the conclusion." Even opponents within the island warn them that "they have very little time left" before facing the same fate. What sense does it make to prolong this unsustainable situation?

For the good of the Cuban people, act now. Break with Putin and talk to Trump. If you truly want to prevent further suffering, initiate a transition dialogue with the United States immediately to alleviate the hardships in Cuba. Donald Trump has already stated that Cuba is a "failed nation" where people have suffered too much, but he has also affirmed that the United States wants to help the Cuban people. Marco Rubio has warned that those in power in Havana have the choice to either opt for a prosperous Cuba or continue with the "failed dictatorship." Take advantage of that outstretched hand, instead of clinging to a distant ally that will not solve the shortages or the blackouts. Cuba has suffered too much. It is time to end the misery and bring new hope to our people.
