A young Cuban woman known on TikTok as @briana5254 excitedly shared that she is building her own room in Cuba with the money she has earned from social media.
"Building my room in Cuba with the money I've made in these last few months through social media," she wrote in the video posted on her TikTok account, where she is seen as sand is unloaded from a truck for the construction.
In her testimony, the young woman expressed gratitude for the opportunity she found in the digital world and assured that the effort has been worthwhile: “Today I thank God and life for putting the great idea of starting to create content on my path one day. What may seem to many as simple, easily made little videos has been 5 months of growth and learning for me.”
She also reflected on the challenges of living on the island and what it means to achieve a personal goal: "I have proved to myself that when you truly want something, you can make it happen, no matter where you are or the difficulties life throws at you, and in my case, the biggest challenge is living in Cuba, where even the simplest things become extremely complicated."
The content creator explained that achieving the dream of having her own space has been one of her greatest accomplishments: “Today, I am fulfilling one of my goals of being in my own space, that room decorated to your taste that all women dream of.”
The young woman also detailed that on that day she received the sand for construction, while she had already purchased the cement earlier: “I gave lunch to the builders and then I went to a store to buy boxes, switches, wires, and everything necessary for the electrical installation.”
Finally, she left a motivational message for her followers: "Always remember that if I could do it, you can too, so just let me know in the comments what you thought about everything and don't forget to follow me for more."
The video, published from Cuba, has garnered thousands of views and over 70 comments. Among the reactions, there are encouraging messages such as “I’m happy for your determination and success” and “Congratulations, God will always bless you,” alongside others expressing skepticism about the possibility of earning income from the island: “Money isn't made with a cell phone; it’s made by working hard,” wrote one user, while another replied: “In this century, that has changed; the internet has made many things easier, you have to adapt.”
Some comments also reflect the contrast between the situation in Cuba and in other countries: “Here in my country, El Salvador, there are thousands of Cubans living, and they like it because there are no criminals here,” wrote another user.
Cases like that of this young woman are not isolated. In recent months, other Cuban women have shared similar stories about how they have been able to buy or repair homes on the island thanks to the income they have generated from social media.
One of them, identified as @yaneisycanta_98, celebrated on TikTok that she managed to buy a house in Cuba thanks to her digital work, encouraging others to follow her example when she said: “Grab your phone and instead of being a spectator, start entertaining the audience,” according to her viral video.
Another case is that of @caliope128, a young woman from Villa Clara who purchased a house for $2,300 with her earnings from TikTok and expressed: “Unfortunately, I did not have the resources to be able to have it, but today I was able to fulfill my dream of buying it,” as she recounted in her post.
These testimonies show a growing trend among young Cubans who, despite economic challenges, find in social media an alternative way to generate income and achieve personal goals without emigrating.
