Radio stations in several Cuban provinces have had to adjust their broadcasting schedules due to persistent blackouts and the poor condition of the generators, a situation that directly impacts the communication of the population.
Radio Sancti Spíritus announced that it will temporarily adjust its programming “to preserve the operational life” of its power plant. In an informational note, they explained that the signal may be interrupted at various times during the early morning, midday, and night, depending on the availability of electricity in circuit 112 of the city.
In the eastern part of the country, the difficulties are similar. Radio and television broadcasts in Holguín have been affected for several days due to electrical issues at the transmitter located on Loma de la Cruz, one of the main broadcasting centers in that region.
The Provincial Radio Directorate confirmed that prolonged power outages and the deterioration of generators have taken Radio Angulo off the air and also affected the television signal.
Executives from Radio Cuba indicated that they are working to acquire a 200-ampere battery to reactivate the transmitter, although they acknowledged that high energy consumption and a lack of fuel hinder its stable operation.
The situation, which also affects broadcasters in Ciego de Ávila, reflects the deterioration of the national electric power system and its impact on daily life. The affected broadcasters recommend following their transmissions online through teVeo.cu and their digital platforms.
The regime is not addressing the energy crisis, and this situation leaves thousands of Cubans cut off from communication for long hours every day.
