Radio and television broadcasts in Holguín have been disrupted for several days due to electrical failures at the transmitter located in Loma de la Cruz, one of the main broadcasting centers in eastern Cuba.

The Provincial Radio Directorate confirmed that the issues are due to prolonged power outages and the poor condition of the generators, which have taken the station Radio Angulo off the air and also affected the television signal.

In a note published on social media, the newspaper Ahora reported that, temporarily, Radio Holguín “La Nueva” broadcasts the content of Radio Angulo at the frequency of 96.1 FM, as long as there is electrical power available in the area.

However, interruptions are constant and affect both local listeners and sports broadcasts, including the playoffs of the National Baseball Series.

Managers of RadioCuba, the state-owned broadcasting company, assured that they are working alongside the Electric Company to obtain a 200-ampere battery that will allow them to reactivate the transmitter.

However, they warned that the equipment is a "high energy consumer" and will not be able to operate while the electrical failures and fuel shortages persist.

The situation in Holguín adds to the recent power outages and transmission cuts reported in Ciego de Ávila, where the lack of diesel left local stations and the Television and FM Transmission Center without signal.

Both cases reflect the deterioration of the national electric power system and its direct impact on the country's public communication.

The affected stations recommend following their broadcasts online through teVeo.cu and their digital platforms.
