Profit for fishermen, in this case, from the International Airport of the Americas (AILA) in Santo Domingo, which stated that it has sufficient capacity and an unlimited supply of fuel to support the airlines Iberia and Air Europa, which will make technical stops in the Dominican Republic due to the fuel shortage in Cuba.
According to the Dominican newspaper Diario Libre, the airport administration, through its spokesperson Luis López, stated that the terminal has the necessary infrastructure and sufficient reserves to ensure the supply for aircraft that require refueling.
"There is no limit on fuel, and the airport has the capacity to meet the demands required by the airlines," explained the spokesperson, as reported by the media.
Air Europa has scheduled technical stops at AILA on February 11, 12, and 13, with an approximate load of 15,000 gallons per flight before continuing to the final destination.
The confirmed operations initially cover a period of four days.
Starting February 14, there are no scheduled flights to Havana, although any changes will be communicated in due time.
For its part, Iberia also notified that it will make technical stops in Dominican territory for refueling purposes, taking advantage of the availability of fuel and the logistical capacity of the airport.
Airport authorities are coordinating with airlines to ensure the efficient flow of operations as long as the situation in Havana persists.
After the announcement from the Havana regime regarding the shortage of fuel for airlines servicing the Island, Iberia reported that it does not believe "the situation will lead to modifications or cancellations of operations between Madrid and Cuba".
In any case, Iberia informed this Monday that it has activated a relaxation of conditions for customers with already issued tickets to Cuba who wish to make voluntary changes to their travel plans.
