El Necio, whose real name is Pedro Jorge Velázquez and is prominent on social media as a communist spokesperson and figure aligned with the Cuban regime, demanded an “urgent clarification” from the island's authorities this Wednesday following the circulation of reports regarding alleged conversations between the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and Raúl Guillermo Rodríguez Castro, grandson of Raúl Castro, known as “El Cangrejo.”

In a social media post, the activist aligned with the official narrative argued that the reproduction of information in numerous international media outlets turns the issue into a political problem that requires an immediate response from the Presidency, the Government, or the Foreign Ministry.

In his view, regardless of whether the report is true or not, the official silence can strengthen the perception that there are interlocutors outside the institutional structures of the State.

Velázquez argued that Washington is promoting a media strategy aimed at dividing the government and the Cuban people.

He also recalled that in previous occasions, President Donald Trump has mentioned alleged contacts with "high spheres" of Cuba, assertions that were denied by the Deputy Foreign Minister, Carlos Fernández de Cossío.

According to what was stated, Cuba cannot have any valid interlocutor above its formal institutions or outside the mechanisms of the current political system.

For this reason, he deemed it essential to issue a direct clarification that either refutes or confirms the circulating accounts.
