The sea flooded low-lying areas of Havana again this weekend, leaving streets submerged in areas near the Malecón, due to the arrival of the season's tenth cold front.

The Plaza de la Revolución Administrative Council alerted on Facebook about "small accumulations of water in low-lying areas of the territory," particularly on Calzada, 3rd, and 5th streets.

Authorities urged residents to avoid traveling through these areas and to stay alert for official guidance, prioritizing the Vedado-Malecón and Rampa Popular Councils.

The penetration of the sea was classified as slight, but residents warn that the impact could be significant for those living near the coast.

Carlos Espinosa Betancourt, administrator of the Facebook group "Maravilloso Malecón," noted that this phenomenon occurs whenever there are waves associated with cold fronts, but he warned that the situation could worsen due to the accumulation of garbage in the streets.

“Light penetration, but very harmful to those of us living nearby,” he wrote, while recalling that drainage issues and lack of maintenance increase the risks during such events.

Images shared on social media show water advancing over the public thoroughfare and partially covering sidewalks in Vedado.

Coastal flooding of this kind is common in the Cuban capital during the winter season, affecting homes, transportation, and basic services, amid a sustained deterioration of urban infrastructure.
