Serious accident leaves at least one dead and several injured following a collision between a bus and two tricycles in Havana

A serious traffic accident occurred near the La Güinera fair in the Arroyo Naranjo municipality, causing shock among local residents after reports of at least one fatality and several injuries, including a pregnant woman.

The incident, which according to citizen reports occurred this Wednesday in a very busy area near the entrance of the fair, is said to have involved a passenger car that collided with a stand of electric tricycles where several people were present.

Until now, there is no official version from the Cuban authorities confirming what happened or the exact number of victims, so the information mainly circulates through testimonies from neighbors and citizen reporting platforms.

The initial alert was disseminated by crime reporter Niover Licea through his platform Nio Reporting a Crime, where he reported a strong impact in the area.

According to the preliminary information that began circulating among residents, “a modern car reportedly crashed into the electric tricycle stand located at the entrance of the fair, causing a scene of great chaos.”

Witness accounts gathered at the scene pointed to a tragic outcome from the very beginning.

Some neighbors talked about "at least four people deceased, including allegedly the driver of the vehicle", although this figure has not been officially confirmed.

After the incident, residents reported a significant deployment of authorities and emergency teams.

According to those reports, the area would have been cordoned off “from the Calabazar bridge to the Capri” while the injured were attended to and investigations began.

Versions of what happened with the driver

One of the aspects that has generated the most questions is the situation of the car driver.

Various testimonies agree that the driver was injured before the accident, which may have caused him to lose control of the vehicle.

Some witnesses claim that the man had been the victim of a knife attack.

According to this version, “the person driving the car was mugged and stabbed, and while struggling to save his life, he was heading towards Julio Trigo Hospital, but he lost consciousness and control of the car.”

According to that account, the vehicle eventually crashed into the electric tricycles that were at the taxi stand, many of which had passengers on board.

Other neighbors have pointed out that the driver may have died from the injuries sustained in the alleged attack before or just at the moment of the impact.

However, this is not the only version that is circulating.

Another hypothesis: a possible health issue

Among the comments published by residents, there is also a different explanation regarding the origin of the accident.

A user who claims to live near the location stated that “it was a heart attack, the driver had no blood anywhere, it was simply a heart attack”, which may have caused the loss of control of the vehicle.

This type of testimony reflects the confusion surrounding the incident, as no authority has confirmed what the actual cause of the accident was.

Reports on victims

The figures regarding fatalities and injuries also vary depending on the sources.

While some testimonies report several fatalities, other accounts indicate the death of the vehicle's driver, though among the seriously injured there is said to be a pregnant woman.

Neighbors described scenes of desperation following the impact, as people at the scene tried to assist the injured before the ambulances arrived.

"I was there, it was a very intense scene," commented a user who claimed to have witnessed the moment of the accident.

Another resident reported hearing "several ambulance sirens" shortly after the incident, indicating the seriousness of what had happened.

The accident has sparked a wave of reactions among residents of La Güinera and social media users, many of whom expressed their dismay at the tragedy.

"What horror, Cuba," wrote one commentator, while another lamented that "this is without law or order."

Other users insisted that the most important thing is to clarify what really happened.

There were also those who raised concerns about the increasing sense of insecurity in the country and the rise in violent incidents.

For now, the lack of official information leaves many questions unanswered:

how many people really died in the accident; whether the driver was a victim of a prior attack; or if the incident was due to a health issue or another cause.

Official media have not yet released an official statement regarding the accident.
