Road traffic accidents in figures in Cuba
The accident occurs in a context characterized by high levels of traffic incidents in the country. In 2025, Cuba recorded 7,538 traffic accidents, resulting in 750 fatalities and 6,718 injuries, according to official data presented by the National Road Safety Commission.
Authorities attributed 72% of the accidents to three main behaviors: failing to yield the right of way, not paying proper attention, and speeding.
Furthermore, 63% of the accidents involved motorcycles, mopeds, and pedestrians, who are considered the most vulnerable users in a deteriorated road infrastructure.
