Republican Congressman Carlos A. Giménez reminded everyone this Friday of a distinguishing fact about him in the United States Congress: he is the only federal legislator born in Cuba.
Through the social network X, the representative from Florida sent a message of hope to Cubans inside and outside the island amid the current political context.
"I am the only member of the United States Congress born in Cuba," Giménez wrote, emphasizing his personal story marked by exile.
The legislator, who arrived in the United States as a child after the establishment of the communist regime on the island, connected his message to the current political situation in the island.
In his post, the congressman thanked President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio for the policies against the regime and expressed optimism about the country's future.
“Thanks to President Trump and Secretary Marco Rubio, we will finally be able to visit our homeland after six decades of forced exile. We will rebuild Cuba and make it great again!”, said Giménez.
He has been one of the most active congress members in Washington in denouncing the abuses of the Cuban regime and promoting pressure policies against Havana.
Trump claims that Cuba "will fall very soon."
Giménez's statements come at a time when the Cuban issue has once again taken center stage in the U.S. political agenda this Friday.
President Donald Trump stated that his administration is focused on Cuba and claimed that the regime in Havana "is eager to reach an agreement."
"They want to reach an agreement, so I will place Marco there and we'll see how it works. We are very focused on this right now," declared the leader and emphasized: "Cuba will fall very soon."
