Three Cuban citizens were arrested in northern Mexico after being identified as suspected perpetrators of burglaries involving safes in two cities, local media reported.
The detainees, identified as Willians “N” (30 years old), Daniel “N” (34), and Neuri “N” (28), were captured in Monterrey following a joint operation between authorities from the states of Coahuila and Nuevo León.
According to investigations, the group is believed to have been involved in the theft of a safe at a notary office located in the Doctores neighborhood in Saltillo, as well as another similar incident in Monterrey.
The case was activated following the report of the robbery in Saltillo, which led to a deployment of the High Impact Crime Group, Milenio reported. Thanks to the use of surveillance cameras from the C2 and C4 systems, authorities were able to identify the suspects and track their escape route as they fled in a vehicle heading towards Nuevo León.
The capture took place in Monterrey, involving multiple security forces from both states. During the arrest, the agents secured the vehicle they were in, as well as tools they allegedly used to break into safes, which raises the possibility that they are linked to other similar robberies in the region.
The three men have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry, which will determine their legal situation in the coming days.
According to Telediario, the attorney general of Coahuila emphasized that the coordination among authorities was crucial for achieving the arrest in a short time, highlighting the use of surveillance technology and the collaboration between states.
The case takes place in a context where Cuban migration to Mexico and other countries in the region continues to grow, often marked by stories of survival, but also by episodes that affect the perception of the community abroad.
