At least two ships from the Mexican Navy arrived this Friday at the port of Havana with a new shipment of humanitarian aid destined for Cuba, according to reports from journalists and official media.
According to posts shared on social media by the Cuban ambassador in Mexico, Eugenio Martínez Enríquez, the vessels are transporting donations sent by the Mexican government and people to alleviate the severe crisis in the island.
Official Cuban media also released images of the arrival of the ships at the capital's port. The state portal Cubadebate noted that the shipment includes food, hygiene products, and medical supplies donated by Mexico.
The Cuban leader, Miguel Díaz-Canel, thanked the gesture and highlighted Mexico as one of the countries that has supported the island the most in the current circumstances.
For his part, CNN correspondent Patrick Oppmann confirmed that "two more ships from the Mexican Navy carrying aid arrived this morning in Havana."
According to preliminary reports released by journalist Bernardo Espinosa, this shipment would be the third consignment of material aid sent by Mexico to Cuba, amid the severe economic crisis and shortage of essential products that the island is facing.
So far, no details have been provided regarding the total volume of the shipment or the exact date when the resources will be distributed within the country.
The arrival of these ships comes at a time when Cuba is facing a situation characterized by shortages of food, medicine, and fuel, along with frequent blackouts that impact a large portion of the population.
