Mexican Senator Lilly Téllez launched harsh criticisms against Miguel Díaz-Canel, whom she labeled a "dictator" and accused of remaining in power due to privileges and luxuries, amidst the growing tension between Cuba and the United States.

The statement was published on her X account, where she directly responded to recent remarks made by the Cuban leader against Washington.

"No, dictator, you are just afraid that your privileges and luxuries will come to an end," wrote the legislator, who also accused him of challenging the United States over alleged financial support linked to illicit interests.

Téllez also stated that the Cuban regime will not be able to sustain itself indefinitely.

“Cubans will be free from you, ruthless monsters,” he added in his message, raising the tone of political confrontation.

His statements come after Díaz-Canel accused the United States of threatening "almost daily" to overthrow the constitutional order on the island, in response to recent assertions by President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Trump described Cuba as a "failed nation" and claimed that he could take control of the country if it were liberated, while Rubio insisted that the Cuban economy is not functioning and called for deep changes in the country's direction.

In that context, the Cuban leader denounced that Washington is trying to "take control" of the island and its resources and held the United States responsible for the economic crisis the country is facing, marked by widespread blackouts and shortages.

Téllez's reaction adds to other criticisms from Latin American political sectors that question the Cuban regime and reject its arguments in the face of international pressure and the internal deterioration experienced by the island.
